DRIVERS PARTY of NSW

Why the Drivers Party?

The aim of the Drivers Party is to lobby the government to make sensible and common sense decisions to give the everyday Australian driver a fair go.  The constant money grab has to stop... As drivers, we are directly supporting the thousands in the small business community, i.e. workshops, spare parts dealers, smash repair centres, traffic and maintenance system.

I'm attempting to get a voice into Government to say "enough is enough".  I want each of you when joining to message me with your ideas on how we can improve the driving experience for everyday Australians.  Here are some of my ideas:

  • Get rid of unmarked revenue raising hidden cameras, alternatively put back the warning. I am not convinced that unmarked speed and mobile cameras are actually saving lives.

  • Increase speed limits, cars are becoming safer, we have a three lane arterial road at 90km/hr and the motor ways still set to 110?  Why can't we follow what other have done?  I feel alive at 130 and not falling asleep at the wheel at 100.

  • Time of day speed limits.

  • 40,50,60,70,80,90,100,110 speed limits - this is non-sense - can we have a set speed limit.

  • At some point we have to decide is the road for people?, bicycles or vehicles?  you cant have all three. (unless dedicated)

  • Remove bicycles from motor vehicle roads.  Bicycles have a place - no question - but its not on a shared road with deadly weapons.

  • Keep the right hand lane clear.

  • How about not paying a toll if the road is in grid lock?

  • Give Police powers to enforceable re-training for drivers - run a re-testing system.

  • When we upgrade a road, we do one lane at a time - what happened to build it once - build it properly.  Can you image if we had to build a new harbour bridge - it would be two lanes.

  • Let's reward drivers, come up with a reward system.

Let's add to the list.

I've just started this Party and at the moment I have a handful of members, we need at least 750 to enrol on the AEC system.  Membership is free and I am sponsoring to have the political party enrolled with the AEC.
